An Evening with Benjamin Beilman and Gloria Chien
Just days before their appearance with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, violinist Benjamin Beilman and pianist Gloria Chien perform a wide-ranging recital. The program culminates in César Franck’s magnificent Violin Sonata — a work of sweeping beauty and emotional depth.
Featuring:

Béla Bartók: Sonata No. 2 for Violin and Piano, BB 85
Karol Szymanowski: Nocturne and Tarantella for Violin and Piano, Op. 28
Chris Rogerson: Arietta for Violin and Piano (Florida Premiere)
César Franck: Sonata in A major for Violin and Piano (1886)
Presented in collaboration with Coral Gables Congregational Church and with the generous support of the City of Coral Gables.
Benjamin Beilman (violin)
Benjamin Beilman is one of the leading violinists of his generation. He has won international praise for his passionate performances and deep rich tone which the Washington Post called “mightily impressive,” and The New York Times described as “muscular with a glint of violence.” The Times has also praised his “handsome technique, burnished sound, and quiet confidence,” and the Strad described his playing as “pure poetry.”
Gloria Chien (piano)
Taiwanese-born pianist Gloria Chien has one of the most diverse musical lives as a noted performer, concert presenter, and educator. She made her orchestral debut at the age of sixteen with the Boston Symphony Orchestra with Thomas Dausgaard, and she performed again with the BSO with Keith Lockhart. She was subsequently selected by the The Boston Globe as one of its Superior Pianists of the year, “who appears to excel in everything.”
